Vacation Inspiration

As I sit here looking out my window at Toronto’s Lake Ontario I am filled with a sense of peace and happiness. As we are coming to the end of 2011 many visions of the year have been passing through my awareness.

The first day of January this year (1/1/11) I realized how powerful this year was going to be. The year of alignment. Realising how many things have happened this year so that I could realign with who I am and what I came here to do. How many fears I faced and things that had to be let go, cleaned out, and dissolved. How many times I had to say yes even though it was too big and scary for me to do but I KNEW it was part of what I came here to do and that is why it scared me so much.
It is quite fascinating how when I was in the thick of things it felt brutal, filled with anxiety, and dense and yet looking back it seems that it was exactly I we needed to expand into greater possibilities, more fulfillment and alignment, more freedom and WAY more fun!
2012 is going to be powerful. What do you choose for 2012? I can feel the expansiveness of it like a slingshot catapulting us in the directions that we are choosing. Listen to your thoughts. What are you focusing on in your life?

Everything that we are focusing on will amplify so be aware of what you are thinking/ doing  and choose happiness, choose life, choose LOVE if that is what you want in your life! Stop being afraid, stop waiting. Life is just not that serious so PLAY with it!

The last few weeks have been an incredible adventure, an amazing way to end 2011. Starting with 3 weeks in Australia, a week in Eastern Canada and then a week in Tulum, Mexico. Quite the whirlwind of excitement, GROOVING, and being fully present. I have realized how powerful traveling is for me. Travelling and doing what I love and what I feel I can offer the world the most of who I am and what I came here to do. I am beginning to understand that when we are taken out of our everyday lives, we are allowed to breath, to let go of certain responsibilities that may be weighing us down and really just experience the miraculousness of the here and now. I have seen so many people on vacation be completely in bliss, stress free for a week and then come back to their lives and put back on all of the burdens they have been carrying.

Food for thought: what if we lived each day like we were on vacation? What would happen if everyday you work up and asked, what makes me HAPPY? and then DID IT? What if you allowed yourself to dream?  What if we actually took the time to TASTE our coffee, slow down to have conversations with our coworkers, friends, random strangers? What if we went out dancing at night because we wanted to instead of doing all of the house chores and telling yourself you need 8 hours of sleep to be rejuvenated for the day. What if our rejuvenation comes from our everyday actions of being fully present, fully alive and having a ridiculously fun time. When we are in that state our bodies don’t need as much sleep, as much food, or as much rejuvenation as we are constantly rejuvenated!
Just a thought as I sip my coffee and get up to dance to the music playing in my pad.

My journey:
Another thing I realize as I am dancing is that a bit over a year ago I was not doing what I loved for a living. I was starting to, but my journey was not easy and not a quick process. When I graduated university I had no idea what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a naturopath but did not want to do another 4 years of intense schooling, I loved volunteering internationally but all of the jobs for non profits that I looked at did not resonate with my skills or how I really wanted to assist. I knew that I wanted to travel, I wanted to help people heal, and I wanted to be of my most brilliance and using the skills that I am good at and that I like to do. There was no job description for that so I knew that I had to create my own “job”, my own life path. This is/ was a scary thought as most people around me were working in 9-5 or “regular” jobs that they may or may not enjoy, and most were not in jobs that were utilizing their full potential, creating a tonne of passion, or having them wake up everyday excited for their day. So I took a waitressing job and started exploring. I explored different healing methods, different dance techniques and methods and different non profits.

Finally 3 years later I have combined everything I love. 2011 was the year that did that. In 2011 I started regularly teaching dance (The GROOVE Method) to children in schools, I stepped into my role as a master trainer for the method and taught certs, I went to Kenya because it called to me and realized I needed to start a non profit to help the women and children there, I got the opportunity to work with Right to Play teaching YouthGROOVES for their Aboriginal Youth, became an international presenter for the GROOVE Method, started a business with Arbonne and became an Area Manager, traveled to Australia and had a full schedule teaching GROOVE to kids in schools, to adults in packed master classes, and doing certifications, and to end it all I got to travel to one of the most beautiful places in the world, Tulum, Mexico, and dance on the beach for a week, swimming in the ocean, diving with the fish of the reef and in underground caves and doing a Temescal ceremony with a  Shaman.

Please don’t take any of this as bragging, I just want to share this to inspire others as I had to face many fears this year, start things I had no idea how, dream and really just jump right in and when I did that I was rewarded big time. It was not easy, but I had a lot of fun with it and didn’t focus on the fears but instead the expansiveness of the fact that everytime I say YES to life I can assist humanity more and align with what I came here to do. Powerful as I look at my life and realize that I am doing everything that I have ever wanted and I have the freedom to make my own schedule and say yes or no to things. I feel blessed and I hope you do to. Whatever you are CHOOSING for your life know that it is a choice and you do not HAVE to do any job, or live anywhere, you are CHOOSING to be where you are and you have a CHOICE to change it!
I CHOOSE happiness for MY life, MY way and it is the most freeing, joyful, childlike feeling that I have ever felt.

Sending you BIG love to play, create, love, dance and do what YOU want, when YOU want to and not be held back!

Keep Dancing :)
